Tony's Italianย

90 days, indeterminate โ€” The regular-leaf plants of 'Tony's Italian' produce generous amounts of paste-type fruit that weigh four to six ounces. They are elongated, often with points on their ends, red in color, thick skinned and meaty (as you can see in the picture). Very few seeds. They have an excellent flavor and are a good multipurpose tomato.

This family heirloom was introduced to seed savers in 1982 by Dale Anderson (IN AN D) in 1982. He stated that he received the seed from a man named Harold Somerset who had been given the seed by his neighbor, "Tony, whose grandfather brought them from Italy." We received our original seed in 2010 from our friend, Dr. Carolyn Male (NY MA C). Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
Tomato Uses: Paste
Fruit Color: Red

โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜… Another great tomato
By Shawn Conant on January 9, 2018

This is another one that will always be in my garden, as it is a reliable producer of great tomatoes. I'd call it a bit too juicy for a paste, but the flavor, however it is used, is rich, sweet, and deep. It's wonderful!
