SKU: 2000261Blossoms of 'Sweet William Pinks' are mixed in reds, whites, and pinks. Prefers full sun and will thrives in both dry and moist soils. Grows twelve to twenty four inches in height.
Native to Southern Europe and one of the oldest garden plants. It was introduced into England in 1573 and was a familiar plant in colonial gardens. It was advertised for sale in Boston in 1760, cultivated by Thomas Jefferson, and sold by Minton Collins of Richmond in 1793.
Often grown as a biennial. USDA zones 3-9. Each packet contains 0.25 gram, which is approximately 225 seeds.

Planted in spring in a cleared garden area. Germination rate was very high and weeded periodically to allow plants to take hold in the first year. After over-wintering they are extremely dense and I am expecting intense blooms. If you have the patience give these a try!

Sweet William is one of my favorite old-fashioned garden flowers and I have been so pleased with how profusely my second year plants are blooming. So many lovely colors, red, white, a wide range of pinks, and bi-colored. They started blooming in late May here, and are still sending up new stalks of buds. They also seem to transplant reasonably well. Hopefully some will reseed for next year.
