75 days — The bright orange roots of 'Shin Kuroda' are five to six inches long, stump-rooted in shape, are tender, and sweet flavored. A popular Asian market variety, they are good for home gardens and excellent as juicer. Does well in wide variety of soils. Very good storage carrot.

Shin simply means "New" in Japanese. Kuroda carrots are a category of improved Chantenay-type carrots developed in Japan originally for the Asian market. Because of their attributes, they are becoming popular in the North American market as well. Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 590 seeds.
Planting Instructions: Loosen rich, well-drained soil to a depth of one foot, in a location that receives 6 to 8 hours of full sunlight per day.

Plant outdoors in spring as soon as the ground can be worked. Plant seeds ¼ inch deep, ½ inches apart in rows that are spaced 12 to 18 inches apart.

Keep moist until germination. Thin to 1 to 2 inches apart after the seedlings are 1½ inches tall.

Water as required and keep soil cultivated to control weeds.

★★★★★ Yummy little carrots!
By Nancy Collver on February 2, 2015

I love Asian food, and bought these seeds because I wanted to reproduce a wonderful chicken salad that I purchased in a convenience market in Kyoto, Japan in 2008. That salad included shreds of carrot (kuroda) and burdock (gobo), and it was really delicious. My homemade salad was every bit as good as the Japanese original. These carrots are small and very tasty. I left a few in the garden over the winter a year ago, and then let them flower and produce seeds. I got nearly a gallon of seeds last summer! I will be planting my own Shin Kuroda seeds this year.
