75 days, determinate — 'Santiam' is better than most tomato varieties at setting fruit under cooler temperatures. The first fruit are early maturing, red, large (up to three inches in diameter), and mostly seedless (parthenocarpic). It is a great choice for slicing and has a nice tart flavor. 'Santiam' is also a perfect candidate for cooler climates and locations with shorter growing seasons.
Bred and introduced by Dr. James R. Baggett of Oregon State University in 1984 as a stabilized cross between 'Severianin' and 'Starshot'. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.

These are great slicer tomatoes, on the smaller side. I couldn't seem to get the large fruit the description talks about. The plants seem to like to grow in a little bush, and I had a hard time getting them to go up. Or out for that matter. They grew very dense. I advise giving them attention and training them up early. Some of the tomatoes were practically grown into a tomato plant prison, and getting them picked was hazardous to plant and fruit. They are sure tasty though. And the name Santiam is local to my area. Give em a go!

I have grown this variety for many years in pots on my deck and have always had reliable results. Early and seedless with good flavor. Nice variety for Pacific Northwest.
