Rose Balsam

Also known as 'Touch-Me-Not', 'Rose Balsam' was originally from India and southeast Asia. It became quite popular as a Victorian-era garden favorite. Although it has been harder to find in modern garden centers, it is once again becoming increasingly available and is worthy of a place in your borders and beds.

The plants are branching, reaching twelve to eighteen inches in height with leaves that are long and toothed. Flowers are mostly axillary, in rose, salmon, white, scarlet and violet, and mostly double-flowered. Very attractive to pollinating insects and hummingbirds.

Prefers partial sun or shade and moist, well-drained soil. Can be used in the garden or in containers.  Seeds can be started indoors, in flats, six to eight weeks before your anticipated outdoor planting date. Seeds can also be sown directly into your garden after all danger of frost is past. An annual that readily reseeds.

Each packet contains 0.5 gram, which is approximately 50 to 70 seeds.
