Purple Dove Bush Garden Bean
Price: $4.45
SKU: 3030951This is another of the many vegetable varieties developed by the late Robert Lobitz.
Beans prefer well-drained, rich soil in a sunny location. Make sure you keep them well watered in the summer heat.
Beans are a tender vegetable and you should not plant them until all danger of frost has passed and the soil remains above 65ยบF. Sow seeds 1-1ยฝ inches deep, every two to three inches. Bush-type beans do not require support.
For seed saving, allow pods to remain on the plant until they are brittle and open easily. However, if you live in an area with a short growing season, harvest as close to dry as possible and finish drying indoors. Rain and freezing temps will damage beans.

First time growing this variety & we have been in this horrible heat wave with 109°feel like temps. These are producing like crazy even after a cold spring & later than usual planting. I have been watering every other day but these seem none the worse after 3 weeks with no rain. The flavor is wonderful too I will definitely be ordering more and highly recommended this variety!

Purple Dove is by far my favorite bush bean. Beautiful beans, plants, and seeds. Super easy to grow! We had trouble getting any direct sown beans to germinate this year due to cold wet weather. These were the only ones that did. They’ve been producing consistently since mid July (about when we had to re-plant all our other beans). The purple beans are near perfect in appearance and the flavor is good. They are a bit on the meatier side as beans go. I will grow these every year!

These grow excellent. Grow them just for fun if you want. Everyone will think you know what you are doing. Minimal insects. Use bean poles they say these are self supporting. Not so much. Turn green when cooked.

One of my favorite beans to grow! I love the extra color the purple pods bring to my garden. The flavor is great too.

Really enjoyed these beans! They have a great flavor and the beans and foliage are very attractive. Even in the SC summer heat they kept going strong, right up to frost.
