Mammoth Gold Pumpkin
Mammoth Gold Pumpkin
120 Days to maturity. Mammoth Gold is a reliable heirloom variety from the late 1800s, historically used as a vital food source by New World settlers. These giant pumpkins weigh 40-60 pounds, often exceeding 100 pounds with proper pruning and fertilizing. They are typically smooth, golden-orange to pinkish-orange, with faint ribs and irregular shapes. The thick, pale yellow-orange flesh is coarse but edible, making them ideal for carving or pie making. Resistant to cracks and splits, they have strong tops that make harvesting easy. The diameter ranges from 18-24 inches. Each packet contains 4 grams which is about 20 seeds.
Keep watered during the dry weather and cultivate or mulch to reduce weeds. Harvest fruit when skin has turned completely orange and it cannot be easily dented with your fingernail. Cut from vine leaving a two inch stem. Although the name or description of this variety refers to a modern company's name, the seed we are offering is in no way sourced from, "owned by" or connected with that company. The name is simply the historically accurate, common name for the variety giving credit to the seedsmen that originally released it.
