Jimmy Red Dent Corn
Jimmy Red Dent Corn
85-110 days — A beautiful and unique heirloom corn variety, Jimmy Red is an improved version of Bloody Butcher corn, prized for its deep red kernels that are tightly arranged on each ear. Each stalk produces 2 ears measuring 10 to 12 inches in length.
Historically, Jimmy Red Corn has been used for making hominy, grits, cornmeal, and even as the base for some distilled spirits. In addition to its culinary uses, this variety is highly ornamental, making it an excellent choice for gardeners looking to add visual appeal to their gardens. Each packet contains 1 ounce, which is approximately 85-90 seeds.
Sow seeds about 1½ to 2½ inch deep, 3 to 4 inches apart, in rows spaced 24 to 30 inches apart. Thin to 6 to 12 inches apart. Although the name or description of this variety refers to a modern company's name, the seed we are offering is in no way sourced from, "owned by" or connected with that company. The name is simply the historically accurate, common name for the variety giving credit to the seedsmen that originally released it.
