SKU: 309005175 days — Also known as 'Long Imperator 58', the roots reach six to seven and one-half inches in length, are deep-orange colored, and taper to a blunt point. It is excellent fresh from the garden and also stores well. Originally bred for market growers and for shipping. An improved version of the 1933 "All-America Selection®" winner.
The original 'Imperator' was developed by Associated Seed Growers, Inc. as a stabilized a cross between 'Nantes' and 'Chantenay' and introduced in 1928.[1] 'Long Imperator 58' was bred by Ferry-Morse Seed Company and introduced in 1963.[2] Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 650 seeds.
Plant outdoors in spring as soon as the ground can be worked. Plant seeds ¼ inch deep, ½ inches apart in rows that are spaced 12 to 18 inches apart.
Keep moist until germination. Thin to 1 to 2 inches apart after the seedlings are 1½ inches tall.
Water as required and keep soil cultivated to control weeds.

These carrots grow big and fast, I will always have these in my garden, I like to try other varieties, sometimes they don't do well, I'm not the best gardener so probably my fault, but the Imperator 58's always do well for me.

I found this carrot variety to grow well. I had quite a few blow up on me. Some forking. Very little carrot fly issues. Mice love them. The flavor is alright. Nothing special.

I had these in the ground for 4 months. I didn't see any shoulders popping up, so I figured they weren't growing. I finally decided to pull them and plant something else. Boy, was I surprised to be holding in my hand a bunch of full grown carrots! Most were about 6 or 7 inches long, ranging from 1 to 2 inches wide. Vibrant orange color and delicious taste. Besides not being able to know if they were ready, this is an excellent breed. They practically laughed at the hard freezes that came through this winter.
