SKU: 40000501Chater's Double Mix is a classic heirloom variety developed in the 1880s by English horticulturist Chater of Essex. This mix features large, fully double blooms in a wide range of colors, including pink, red, white, and yellow. The flowers measure 4-6 inches wide and appear on tall stalks that can reach 5-7 feet in height, making them perfect for the back of borders, cottage gardens, or along fences for added privacy and color.
These hollyhocks bloom from early to mid-summer and may flower again in late summer or fall if stalks are cut back after the first bloom. Blooms last for many weeks and are both ornamental and edible. While the petals are visually striking and make excellent garnishes, they are mild in flavor. The central disk is also edible, though it is often bitter. Each packet contains 0.5 grams, which is around 55 seeds.

Sow seeds in cell packs, press into the soil, and lightly cover. Germination occurs in 14-28 days. Can direct sow, after all danger of frost is over. Sow into prepared seed beds in groups of 3-4 seeds, spaced 2-3 ft. apart. Thin to the strongest plant in each group.
Hollyhocks grow best in full sun but will tolerate partial shade in the hottest climates. They prefer fertile, well-drained soil and benefit from regular watering, especially during dry periods. For best results, irrigate at the base of the plant to avoid wetting the foliage, and ensure good air circulation to help prevent disease.
