'Havana 322' plants grows to about forty-eight inches tall when topped, but reach up to seven feet when allowed to develop flower heads with their attractive pink flowers.
Its leaves curl downwards, are egg-shaped in outline, and attach to the stalks at the broad end of the leaf. They have a slightly puckered surface and are typically thirteen inches wide by twenty-six inches long. They are classified as a cigar binder type of tobacco.
Developed by the University of Wisconsin Agricultural Experiment Station from a cross between 'Havana 142' and 'Havana 38' and introduced in 1946. Our seed originated from USDA accession number PI 552435 and is grown for us by David Pendergrass from Tennessee.
Tobacco plants are very interesting, ornamental, and have uses apart from consumption. This section of the website is intended for the historical and informational purposes of thinking adults. Anyone who has been raised since the turn of the 20th century already knows that tobacco can be addictive and can contribute to various medical ailments. If you do not smoke, it would seem illogical to start. We in no way encourage people to use any form of tobacco product.
