Gondwana Thunder

100 days, dwarf - The rugose, regular leaf plants of 'Gondwana Thunder' are compact and reach about three feet in height. Its fruit weigh one to five ounces, are globe to flattened-globe in shape. Their color begins as a bright green turning a deep purple-black color, and ripening to pink (clear skin with red flesh). Juicy, and pleasantly sweet, with a mildly tart finish. It should be noted that the days to maturity may vary greatly by location, or even year-to-year.

'Gondwana Thunder' was bred and named by Patrina Nuske-Small of NSW, Australia. Patrina made the initial crosses during the Australian Spring of 2012 between 'Adelaide Festival' and 'Indigo Rose', which provides the unusual dark purple coloring due to the anthocyanins developed as the fruit are exposed to sunshine.

Patrina supplied a sample to Mike Dunton for grow out for Victory Seeds® release. It was introduced by the Victory Seed Company to the North American gardening public for the 2025 season. Each packet contains approximately 10 seeds.
