Giant Pascal
Apium graveolens var. dulce

110 days — 'Giant Pascal', also known as 'Giant Golden Pascal' is an excellent old heirloom celery variety that produces eighteen to twenty inch tall, thick, heavy stalks that are pale yellow-green in color, are tender, and have a good flavor. A self-blanching variety. In 1890, W. Atlee Burpee described this new celery variety as follows:
"This is, without doubt, the most remarkable novelty in Celery obtained since the introduction of the Golden Self-Blanching, from which it is a sport, carefully established by skillful selection. It partakes of the rich, nutty flavor peculiar to the Golden Self-Blanching, and absolutely free from any bitter taste."
Each packet contains 0.25 gram, which is approximately 200 seeds.

Planting Instructions: Start transplants indoors from February through April. Soil must be kept above 55ºF but below 85ºF. Germination is very slow – up to three weeks. Keep moist but not wet.

Sow celery seed ¼ to ½ inch deep, 6 to 10 inches (15-25cm) apart; space rows 24 inches (61cm) apart.
Transplant out when plants are three to five inches tall after danger of frost has passed. They like rich soil loaded with organic matter with a pH of about 6.5. They are a very heavy feeder.
