Giant Aconcagua Sweet Pepper

Capsicum annuum

Price: $4.86

SKU: 33100141

70 days to maturity. Named after Mt. Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in both the Western and Southern Hemispheres at 22,841 feet. Giant Aconcagua was aptly named, as the fruits reach up to 12" long, one of the largest sweet peppers available.

The fruits resemble the shape of a Cubanelle pepper, only they are much longer. They ripen from green to orange to deep red, developing a sweeter flavor as they mature. They can be harvested green as early as 50 days from transplanting, and the fully ripe red peppers typically take about 70 days. Giant Aconcagua peppers are perfect for stuffing, roasting, or grilling. Giant Aconcagua originated from Argentina.

Sow seeds in sterile potting mix, eight weeks prior to your last expected frost date. Plant seeds at a depth equal to two times their thickness. The optimum soil temperature is 80°F. Germination can be erratic. The most common cause of poor germination is the result of uneven planting depths.

Transplant only after night temperatures average above 55°F. Plants are tender and thrive in warm weather. Blossoms drop if temperatures fall below 60°F or if they get too much nitrogen.
