SKU: 3403311This were one of the best growing Dwarf plants I tried this year (2024). Beautiful coloring, great production, but I found the flavor just ordinary. Dwarf Metallica had the same production and size tomatoes, as well as similar coloring. I liked Metallica's flavor more.
These grew well topping out at 3-1/2 feet and produced several sets of 6-12 ounce jewels in clusters, rarely to 16 ounces but there were a few. Very robust plants from the seedling stage on and they withstood the toughest summer in Centex in memory coming through like champs, no insects, no disease. No tomato that I know will set fruit in 90-95 degree night temps and this is no exception but they set well early and held the fruit, then started setting again with the weather break in fall. Delicious balanced flavor with some acid but not sharp. These are wonderful space savers and need no care besides a cage due to weight of thick branches and clusters of fruit.
These were great tasting tomatoes. They look a little funky with the weird shapes, but the flavor was excellent. They needed partial shade more than the other tomatoes we grew this year. Once we shaded them, the cracking just about stopped. Will definitely grow again.
In my growth-hardiness trial on this variety, F.T.D. did well with low water, in mild temps, and only worm casting tea. As the plants matured to flower, many had "sunflower" like blossoms that became the most mutant and irregular tomatoes. despite crazy shaped fruit, most of them were fairly normal(off-circular), most were able to be harvested, ripened indoors to full color without difficulty, and plants persisted until clear frozen nights did everything in.
Got around 3 dozen large tomatoes off this little plant with just one tomato cage for support that it shared with another dwarf. The fruit is delicious, and friends take notice of their beautiful stripes and colors. Was growing in my front yard and found people stopping on the sidewalk to admire them. Was my most productive dwarf of the season, will be a staple in my garden for years to come.
I have grown Fredโs Tye Dye for three years now. They grow well in the ground or in 8 to 10 gallon grow bags. They are hardy, disease resistant, productive plants. They grow about 4 ft and require cage or staking due to the number and size of tomato clusters. The tomatoes are anywhere from 8 to 16 ounces and can even get bigger than that occasionally. That said, most are 10 to 14 ounces. I like picking them a little bit before they are fully ripe as they can sometimes crack. The fruit is beautiful and the taste is intense and amazing! My favourite tomato I have grown.
This is my new favorite tomato. Its a must grow!
Did not come out like picture. Kinda mutant-ish and most were splitting way before color change. Funny they grew again this year from leftovers but my squash kinda covered them. Four tomatoes from these leftovers this year.
These are the most delicious tomatoes! I've been growing the dwarf tomato varieties and love them. This particular type really stands out because it's an incredible producer and delivers the richest, delicious, melt in your mouth Flavor! These will be in my garden every year.
