EcoEase Microclover and Fescue Lawn Mix is a low-maintenance lawn blend made of three fine fescues and microclover. The mix contains Creeping Red Fescue (Festuca rubra), Hard Fescue (Festuca trachyphylla), Sheep Fescue (Festuca ovina), and Microclover (Trifolium repens).
Together these plants form a dense groundcover that grows 4 to 6 inches tall and handles regular foot traffic. It needs little mowing, anywhere from once a month to just a few times a year. If you skip mowing, the clover will bloom and feed pollinators.
The mix uses less water than a conventional lawn, grows in poor soils, and holds up in partial shade. The microclover adds nitrogen to the soil, so the surrounding grasses get fed without fertilizer. Its dense stolon structure crowds out weeds, which cuts the need for herbicides, and grubs tend to feed on other plants instead. Microclover also does not leave the brown spots that pet urine causes on regular grass, so it works well for homes with dogs.
