Early Russian
Cucumis sativus
50-70 days to maturity. Early Russian was bred for prairie growing conditions and is perfect for colder climates. The vines are very prolific, producing light green cucumbers with black spines. They are best picked when they are around 5 inches long, and they are great for pickling and relishes. Fruits are sweet all season, never turning bitter. Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 25 to 30 seeds.

Sowing: To seed in rows, plant seeds 1 inch deep and about 6 inches apart. To plant in hills, plant four or five seeds in 1-foot-diameter circles set 5 to 6 feet apart.
