SKU: 3403231Grew this outside in a blue cattle tub at 7000 feet in a fenced garden-it did great! Had some protection from the wind and cold with a heavy, then lighter frost cloth around a wire cage. Great flavor and very productive. Had two Sleeping Ladies in the same pot and they all were happy. Very pleased-pretty fruit! Didn’t mind if the shape wasn’t consistent…
Started seed indoors in late March and transplanted outside mid-June. We don’t get ripe tomatoes until late August. Very short season.
Love the dwarf tomatoes(thanks to everyone for developing them and sharing seeds!)and all the different varieties of tomatoes you offer…hard to choose which new ones to try each year!
This was another tomato that I grew in a fabric pot and staked instead of caging. The weight of the fruit overcame the staking and caused the plant to split down the middle but it went on to produce a lot of fruit for the size of the plant and were all vivid yellow, sometimes with feint green shoulders. Like another reviewer mentions, the early offerings were heart shaped while successive fruit were increasingly round. All had fantastic flavor. Most went into salads but I also combined some with other yellow varieties and made some yellow salsa that was a big hit with guests.
I grew this in an EarthBox this season for the first time. For me it was an OK tomato that was midseason and the first few fruit were clearly heart shaped with good flavor. It did produce a fairly long time, but after the first few weeks, the fruit became round to oblate (no hearts), and became much smaller. It ended up producing 1-2 oz fruit before I pulled it after about 5-6 weeks. Initially, it had produced 3-6 oz tomatoes. Since this was grown in an EarthBox, it had plenty of moisture and fertilizer. Its modest resistance to foliage disease was typical of most of the dwarfs I've grown (with copper soap spraying).
We've gotten three so far and can't wait for more! I had two people, who swear they don't like tomatoes, close their eyes and taste these. While they had no idea what kind of fruit it was they loved it. This tomato literally has no or extremely low acid and tastes like nothing we've ever eaten! Next year I'm planting six of these!!! So delicious 😋
