Cornflowers are excellent for beds, borders and as cut flowers. They are hardy and bloom from May through summer if planted in early spring. Preferring sunny, well-drained location, the plants grow 24 to thirty six inches in height. This variety makes a strong statement with its very dark crimson/almost black color blooms.
Cornflowers are native to Europe where they are commonly found growing wild in grain ("corn") fields, hence the name. Cornflowers are reported to have arrived in America between 1700 and 1750. Each packet contains 0.5 gram, which is approximately 100 seeds.
