Connecticut Shade
Nicotiana tabacum L
[ Approximately 100 seeds per packet ]
The plants of 'Connecticut Shade' tobacco can reach eight feet in height with leaves that are light green colored averaging a foot wide by eighteen inches long. When shade grown, the leaves are finer, larger, and more elastic than if they are grown in the full sun producing some of the finest cigar wrappers.
'Connecticut Shade' was historically grown under trees and used as cigar binder tobacco, as well as for cigar wrappers and filler. Our seed originated from David Pendergrass in Tennessee who grew it from USDA accession number PI 552621.
