'Cigar Wrapper', aka 'Dominican Republic', can grow to about seventy inches tall when topped and over seven feet tall when allowed to produce its heads full of pink flowers. Its leaves tend to be long and narrow, more than twice as long as wide (ten inches wide by twenty-four inches long), and as its name implies, were historically used for cigar wrappers.(Dominican Republic)

Our original seed was sent to us by tobacco variety preservationist, David Pendergrass of Tennessee who obtained it from USDA accession number PI 552617.
Tobacco plants are very interesting, ornamental, and have uses apart from consumption. This section of the website is intended for the historical and informational purposes of thinking adults. Anyone who has been raised since the turn of the 20th century already knows that tobacco can be addictive and can contribute to various medical ailments. If you do not smoke, it would seem illogical to start. We in no way encourage people to use any form of tobacco product.
