Chinese Pinks (Dianthus chinensis)
Dianthus chinensis
Also known as Rainbow Pink, this Dianthus comes from China and produces single to semi-double flowers in shades of white, pink, red, salmon, and burgundy. Great for beds & borders, cottage gardens, and fragrant gardens. In hot climates, position the plants to get afternoon shade, and keep regularly watered. Dianthus is a short-lived perennial that is mainly grown as an annual. Thomas Jefferson grew China Pinks along his winding flower border in 1807, along with Sweet Williams and Carnations. Each gram contains 0.25 grams, which is about 200 seeds.
