Buena Mulata Hot Pepper

Capsicum annuum

Price: $4.45

SKU: 33101421

75-80 days to maturity. Buena Mulata closely resembles the classic cayenne pepper in shape and size. Slender pods grow 6 to 7 inches in length. What sets it apart is its vibrant color progression—beginning as deep purple, then maturing through shades of pinkish-yellow and brown, and finally reaching a rich, deep red.

The flavor profile changes as the pods mature: early-stage purple peppers offer a more savory, vegetal taste, while fully ripened red pods have a sweeter, fruitier flavor. These peppers are extremely productive and grow well in both garden beds and containers.

Sow seeds in sterile potting mix, eight weeks prior to your last expected frost date. Plant seeds at a depth equal to two times their thickness. The optimum soil temperature is 80°F. Germination can be erratic. The most common cause of poor germination is the result of uneven planting depths.

Transplant only after night temperatures average above 55°F. Plants are tender and thrive in warm weather. Blossoms drop if temperatures fall below 60°F or if they get too much nitrogen.
