30 to 45 days — 'Mizuna' is a cold-hardy Japanese variety that produces plants comprised of thin, frilly-edged leaves. Synonyms include 'Shui Cai', 'Kyona', 'Japanese Mustard', 'Potherb mustard', 'Japanese greens', 'California peppergrass', and 'Spider mustard.'

Plant growth is vigorous and swift, which allows for multiple harvests. Its flavor is notably mild for mustard greens and slightly peppery tasting. The leaves are often used in salad mixes, as "baby greens," or lightly braised. Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 350 seeds.

Planting Instructions: Sow seeds ½ inches deep, two to three seeds per inch, in rows 18 inches apart. Cover with loose soil. Avoid disease by not planting where other Brassica (cole crops) plants have been recently grown.

Mustard bolts rapidly as the days lengthen in spring. It is generally important to plant as early as possible and make sure that the plants have plenty of nitrogen to promote green growth.

Start harvesting by thinning young plants to about six inches apart. As the plants grow, continue culling plants until they are finally spaced twelve inches apart. Continue to harvest larger outer leaves as needed.

★★★★★ Easy to Grow
By Tricia Dennison on July 4, 2022

These were very easy to grow and taste amazing. I planted them a little late in the spring and they are starting to bolt so I had to pick them and start eating them. Looking forward to planting them again for a fall crop. Don't pass these up.
