Extreme Bush Tomato

SKU: 340137150 days, determinate — The plants grow twelve to twenty eight inches tall, are tremendously productive, and produce fruit over a long period of time. The leaves interestingly curl up and inward. The fruit are very flavorful, weigh about three ounces, are globe-shaped and red in color.
This is a great candidate for our gardening friends with limited space or wishing to container garden. We received our original seed from the USDA, ARS accession number PI 302463 which lists its origin as Germany. The old Gleckler Seed Company listed a variety matching this description called "German Tomato (45 days) Extreme Dwarf Bush" in their 1958 seed catalog. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.

Growing well, and producing fruit, but encountering a lot of leaf curl. I have been trimming off the lower branches as this occurs, but this is making the plant grow tall, and lanky.

I got them early enough to set fruit, and the tomatoes are ripening up even in hot weather up to 108 degrees so far. Tastes really good in my salads.

While this tomato does not pack the acidic punch I value, it does have a nice flavor and high early and continuous yield. I planted some of these in a raised bed and we could not keep up, and we eat a lot of tomatoes! This would be a great option for container gardening. The variety also seems somewhat prone to crack so watch them during heavy rain.

These Extreme Bush, along with the Stupice were first to ripen and we were very pleased until the more exotic Dwarfs started ripening. I may grow one or two next year to have tomatoes in 50 days but I'll be planting a great deal of the newer Dwarfs I find irresistibly sweet and delicious!

I grew this variety last summer, and all of my plants did very well. I had to cut back on watering because of the drought, and these plants still gave us plenty of tomatoes. I didn't stake mine and the plants held up fairly well until later in the season.

This variety did very well for me in Alaska Grow Buckets containers - inside my greenhouse and they will become my main tomato crop here in Wasilla, Alaska. They are very easy to grow - not very tall and are loaded with 2 - 3 tomatoes. Very good tasting too.

If Extreme Bush can thrive for me, it can thrive for anyone! I live on the North Shore of Lake Superior. I started these seeds inside, hardened them off in the spring (a lot of negligence there; I would often forget them) and put them in containers in June. They produced like crazy through drought, me forgetting to feed or water them, frost, and wind. This meaty tomato is great for sandwiches and sauce. I strongly recommend this seed!
