Dwarf Elsie's Fancy Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3404981

90 days, dwarf — The rugose, potato leaf plants of 'Dwarf Elsie's fancy' are attractively variegated. They produce medium to large sized, four to twelve ounce, oblate shaped, bright yellow fruit. The fruit size, shape, flavor, and days to maturity are the same as with 'Dwarf Walter's Fancy', the main difference being skin color.

'Dwarf Elsie's Fancy', along with 'Dwarf Walter's Fancy' and 'Dwarf Pico's Pride', are the first variegated dwarf varieties developed by the Dwarf Tomato Project and introduced by the Victory Seed Company for the 2021 gardening season. Originating from the "Acey" family, it was named by Craig LeHoullier for his grandmother, Elsie, the wife of Walter. Additional contributors are Pete Adland, Tom Martucci, Susan Oliverson, Debra Kennedy, Jared Scoville, Kevin Campbell, Caitlin LeHoullier and Bill Minkey. Each packet contains at least 20 seeds.

★★★★★ Variegated dwarfs are knock out gorgeous! But the tomatoes...
By Craig LeHoullier on February 9, 2022

Make this a must grow variety. The compact plant has lush potato leaf foliage irregularly splashed with white. Fruit set is best when temps are not extreme, but given time and patience, this variety will pump out a lot of medium to medium large, smooth, oblate bright yellow tomatoes. The flavor is complex, and flashes some nice tartness. The superb Dwarf Mr. Snow is a parent of this family, and the flavor and tartness of that variety shine through in Dwarf Elsie's Fancy.
