I planted 6 of these and 6 of the Golden California bells from here in seed starting trays and all sprouted. Just up-potted them all (Florida is too hot right now so It's our "up potting season" for traditional stuff like tomatoes and green peppers to grow in fall). All are happy. So glad I got these as I have heard that these seeds do well in South Florida, where nothing else does.
I grow this every year and is easy to do! I always pick them green and flavor is unmatched. Best bell pepper I've ever had!
This is an easy to grow pepper. I have always started peppers indoors then transplanted. With California Wonder all peppers transplanted well. Most of the time I loose one or two plants so this is a easy hardy variety.
I normally buy these plants from the local vendors. This season, I decided to try and raise these green peppers from seed. I raised five plants out of six seeds in my germination station. After planting in the garden, one plant took off immediately. Another came along soon after and the other three started off a little slow, but soon came on quickly. Now, it's the first of November and the plants are still producing. Indiana just experienced its first real frost, so this will slow them down. Overall, I really enjoyed raising these plants. I will try again next year.
I started these seeds indoor and unfortunately some of the seeds never germinated but I think I just planted them too deep (first attempt with this). Those that came up grew pretty slow but they were healthy and handled the move outside just fine. The plants were a bit slow to grow but once the heat wave hit, they took off and finally we were able to pick lots of big green perfect peppers!
I grew these 2013 season and was very excited with my crop! I planted about 10 plants. The seeds were started indoors and germination was easy. These plants produced beautiful peppers with no bug or disease issues. I grew these to use for stuffed peppers. I waited till they turned red to harvest-we prefer the less green taste. I removed the seeds and froze them whole and we are still enjoying them. I also picked the last of the green ones before our frost and they kept very good in cold storage for a couple months- allowing them to turn red also.
