65 days — 'Ashley' is an early variety with productive vines and dark green fruit that are seven to eight inches long, tapered on the stem end. An excellent slicing variety.

Bred and released by the South Carolina Truck Experimental Station, Charleston in 1956. 'Ashley' is resistant to downy mildew and does well in humid areas. Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 25 to 30 seeds.
Planting Instructions: Cucumbers grow best with long, hot, humid days with maximum sunshine and warm nights. Plants are extremely susceptible to frost. Sow seeds outside only after danger of frost when soil has warmed. Make a second sowing 4 to 5 weeks later for a late summer or early fall harvest. For an earlier harvest and to reduce the threat of insect damage to seedlings, start a few plants indoors in individual pots (or trays with separate compartments) about a month before your last spring frost date.

Sowing: To seed in rows, plant seeds 1 inch deep and about 6 inches apart. To plant in hills, plant four or five seeds in 1-foot-diameter circles set 5 to 6 feet apart.

★★★★★ Good germination rate
By Arkansas Rob on April 6, 2023

Another review, by someone who has a great substack I follow, cited 100% germination, but mine was merely 75%. Certainly good enough!

★★★★★ Loads and loads of big, wonderful cucumbers!
By Martha Scott on July 26, 2014

We'd reserved a row in our garden to try these cukes. Holy cow, we are still impressed! Planted early may, it's now the end of July, and we have baby cukes everywhere. We've sliced, we've pickled, we've donated, we've gifted to friends and family, and we're still being blessed with some of the best cucumbers we've ever eaten. No mildew, not a bit of problem of any kind with the plants. Trellised beautifully. We'll be ordering these sees again next year, definitely a keeper.

★★★★★ Delicious!
By Abigail Ridgard on November 8, 2013

Fruit is large, juicy, and tasty. Excellent for slicing/eating fresh. Planted in late August and started harvesting in early November. Vines grew over 7 feet tall. No outstanding problems with diseases or pests. Zone 8b.

★★★★★ 100% sprouting
By Marc Girardot on February 12, 2013

Got these in early Feb 2012. All seeds I sowed have sprouted. Mind you, it was only 3 seeds but they all sprouted in one day. Sprouted on wet paper towels and transferred to cocofiber. 5 stars for sprouting. Nothing yet on taste or other qualities.
