43 to 55 days — Also known as 'American Long Standing' and 'American.' Plants reach about eight inches in height. Produces heavy yields of thick, dark-green savoyed leaves. It is slow-growing, slow to bolt, and resistant to heat and drought. 'America' spinach is a long-standing Bloomsdale-type that is suitable for canning, freezing, and eating fresh.

An "All-America Selection®" winner in 1952, 'America' was bred by N.V. Sluis en Groot, Enkhuizen, Holland as a stabilized cross between 'Bloomsdale Dark Green' and 'Viking'. Each packet contains two grams, which is approximately 150 seeds.
Planting Instructions: Spinach and other greens thrive in cool spring and fall weather (50° F to 60° F). A few greens can handle summer heat, but most of them prefer the cooler temperatures of spring and fall. Most lettuce and greens can withstand occasional exposure to light frost but if very cold weather is coming, protect your plants with a frost cover.

Sowing: Prepare the seedbed outdoors using a hard tined rake, smoothening out the soil. Lightly sow and just barely cover the seeds with soil. Keep soil moist until germination is achieved. You can also start seeds indoors by sowing into seed starting trays using fresh new seed starting potting mix into clean seed starting trays. Just barely cover the seeds and keep well watered until they sprout. Harden off and transplant into the garden after about 3 weeks.

Way larger than advertised eight inches. Grew about three feet tall. I harvested older leaves multiple times between late April and early June. New leaves kept coming- never developed any bitterness. Ate raw and sauted. In early June in New Jersey they finally gave up.
