Black Jack Gum Wrapper - EarlyThomas Adams, Sr. introduced Black Jack gum, the first manufactured, flavored chewing gum, in 1870.

One 1928 magazine advertisement states, "After smoking, have a stick of Black Jack!  The licorice in this quality gum soothes the throat and freshens the mouth.  The world's most popular licorice flavored gum."

Black Jack gum was continuously produced through the 1970s when demand for the product slumped and manufacturing ceased.

1970s PackThe Adams brand became part of the American Chicle Company, was purchased by the Warner-Lambert, a subsidiary of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, in 1960 and in 1985, trial production runs began again.  In 2003, the brand was purchased by the Cadbury Company.  Click here for a press release of this last corporate sale.

Sporadically, and on a schedule we have yet to understand, small batches of the Adams line are produced.  It is common for these limited runs to sell out quickly.

Like you, we love the product and hope that Black Jack, Adam's Sour Gums, Clove and Beemans will be revived as permanent products in the Cadbury-Adams line.  However, their current production plans call for making batches every two to three years.  When current stock is gone, it will be gone for some time!

Shipping for gum & candy is based on the total weight of your order.

The most economical route for most orders is the US Mail Priority Flat Rate with delivery confirmation. This will run $6.45 for very small orders (up to three 20-pack boxes) and $10.45 for larger orders up to 18 boxes (360 packs).

For larger orders where shipping will be a lot higher, we will calculate the best rate and email you for your approval before we charge your card.

Note: Our shopping cart system is not smart enough to figure this out. So disregard the shipping estimate that it calculates.
